When Raising Awareness Isn’t Enough
World Pneumonia Day aims to raise awareness for the world’s leading infectious disease.
According to the World Health Organisation, pneumonia currently accounts for 16% of all deaths of children under 5, killing over 900,000 just in 2015 alone.
Despite preventative practices put in place, there is still work that needs to be done for those most vulnerable of contracting the infectious disease – young children and people over 65.
We had Professor of Infectious Diseases Epidemiology, Allen Cheng speak with us on the show.
