Why is belly fat so dangerous?

We all know excess fat is no good for you. It puts you at risk of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, fatty liver disease and a whole bunch of other chronic conditions. But did you know that we have different types of fat in our bodies? Or that having excess fat specifically around your belly is potentially the most dangerous?

Dr Evelyn Parr, Research Fellow in Exercise Metabolism and Nutrition at the Australian Catholic University’s Mary MacKillop Institute for Health Research joined Tess to chew the fat on Breakfast. Diet, exercise and avoiding an overly sedentary lifestyle are key to preventing dangerous excess fat.
