Atmospheric Memory at the Powerhouse Museum
Direct from the UK, Atmospheric Memory by award winning international artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer will be on exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum from 12th August.
Atmospheric Memory is inspired by the writings of the 19th century computer pioneer and philosopher Charles Babbage, who believed that the air surrounding us is a ‘vast library’ containing every sound, motion and word spoken.
Examining this idea 200 years later, this exhibition is an interactive environment featuring a series of artworks using technology to transform vibrations in the atmosphere into something visitors can see, hear and even touch.
Artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer joined 2SER Breakfast to discuss.
