How exercise can prevent Depression

A new study has found that physical activity can prevent depression. Now various studies have indicated how exercise helps mental health however, this groundbreaking study has the figures to show how exercise can prevent depression from emerging.  But, how often should you exercise and are there certain types of exercises that are more effective in preventing depression and mental illness from arising than others?

Dr Joseph Firth, research fellow from the NICM (The National Institute of Complementary Medicine) at Western Sydney University, joined the Daily this morning to discuss this and more.
