Australia’s Underwater Threat

Toothpaste, exfoliants, shampoos, creams… these are everyday products which contain microplastics. When we use these products they get flushed down the drain.

Microplastics in Australian oceans are posing a huge threat to not only marine animals but also to human health, according to evidence given by scientists and ecologists in a Senate inquiry last week.

Georgia Clark spoke to Senior Research Associate from UNSW, Dr Mark Browne, who gave evidence at the inquiry.
