Rachel Savernake begins her militaristic campaign against the town of Blackstone, sending her forward force in the form of Cliff Trueman, ready to get his imaginary uncle whacked by whoever may have been committing crimes at the sanatorium. Meanwhile, Rachel ingratiates herself in the town and gets to work on the mysterious death of our would-be protagonist Nell Fagan. It’s a strategic masterclass as Flex struggles to unravel the centuries of criminology behind the sinister marshy locale.
