You don’t have to look far to see examples like Siri, Cortana, and Google Home revolutionizing the way we harness technology in our daily lives. But can they ever replace a human? Well, in a very interesting development, a few robotics companies are now in the process of programming artificial intelligence to show empathy, or at least emit empathetic responses to situations. But how can a robot show empathy?
