Pill Testing at Groovin the Moo

Last weekend at Canberra’s Groovin the Moo music festival, we saw the introduction of Australia’s first ever drug testing tent. The initiative aims to educate young Australians on the illicit substances they are consuming, and hence, minimise illicit drug use. But the police vowed to not target the drug testing tent, meaning that Australians could get their illicit drugs tested and walk out without having their drugs confiscated. So is this imitative actually minimising illicit drug use? To discuss this matter with us was Associate Professor Lisa Wynn, Head of the Anthropology Department at Macquarie University.
