Stargazing in the daylight? Yes!
Humans have ventured out at night to track and learn from the stars for millennia. But we haven’t successfully been able to observe celestial objects during the day because the Sun overpowers our gaze.
Now, astronomers at Macquarie University have pioneered a new technique for observing celestial objects during the day, potentially allowing around-the-clock visual monitoring of satellites, and greatly improving safety on Earth and in space.
Today we were joined by lead author and astrophysics PhD candidate Sarah Caddy, who helped design and build the Huntsman Telescope, to tell us more about this exciting research.
