Artificial Intelligence, also called AI, refers to computers that become so complex they are able to output objects such as images, text and speech. Recent developments in technology have seen AI systems develop their own artworks. 

If you haven’t heard, AI-generated images are everywhere at the moment, even recently winning art prizes at the Colorado state fair. But what are they, where did they come from, and can computers make art by themselves?
