The Meaning of Dreams?
Dreams are said to be powerful messages formed by our brains that reveal certain aspects of our character that we were never aware of. In fact early civilisation thought of dreams as a medium between humans and the gods. Sigmund Freud is said to be the ‘father’ of psychoanalysis or dream work, where he believed dream analysis could act as a powerful tool for unlocking our hidden thoughts and subconscious wishes. In his analysis he concluded that the unconscious mind is more honest and representative of our true selves rather than our conscious mind.
To reiterate the discussion of Sigmund Freud’s findings and the deeper meaning of our dreams, Professor Bob Hodge from Western Sydney University joined us on The Daily. His work lies in major theoretical traditions in humanities and social sciences including Marxism and Psychoanalysis.
