The Use and Future of Psychedelics in Psychotherapy

From July 1st, 2023, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has approved authorized psychiatrists to prescribe MDMA to treat PTSD, and Psilocybin, a compound found in psychotropic “magic” mushrooms, to address treatment-resistant depression. Despite its potential, there’s still a long road ahead before psychedelic drugs become part of mainstream psychotherapy.

Oscar Nagy, Research Officer for the Altered States of Consciousness Lab at Macquarie University, joined Danny Chifley on 2SER Breakfast to break down the use and future of psychedelics in psychological treatments.
