Fur, Feathers and Fashion… Transformative Art
This weekend is the last of Gerwyn Davies’ Fur exhibition at the Australian Centre of Photography. Fur is a collection self-portraits layered with transformative costume design, that seeks to ‘playfully elevate’ the everyday. Each photograph includes elements and objects Dollar stores, American gothic fiction and and even AFL. Using weird and wonderful combinations of bright pink feathers and and white fur, Davies’ contrasts many suburban backgrounds with his hyperreal costumes. This collection is combination of pieces from other Davies series such as Beast from 2013 and Heatwave from 2017. Australian Centre of Photography curator, Alison Holland joined us.
