International Women’s Day 2023

Wednesday 8 March is International Women’s Day (IWD), and this year we’ll be taking our lead from the UN theme for the day related to technology and innovation for gender equality. That means championing the skills and knowledge of women across a variety of areas, from science and tech to the arts, culture, health and more.

Wide Open Air Exchange’s Christine Gallagher will host Breakfast with all of the regular features of news, traffic, weather, music, and conversation including a discussion of the UN theme.

The Daily will be taken over by Pop Doctors Liz Giuffre (UTS) and Jadey O’Regan (USyd) who will explore the best of pop culture and creativity with an IWD ear and careful eye. Also featured here will be the ‘Future Stars’ series – where women, female identifying and non-binary people get to speak, in their own words, about where they are now, where they’re going, and what they need to get to the next stage.

After lunch Jasmin Williams will be doing a special broadcast of music, interviews and DJ mixes from female artists through til 4; then Madeleine Achenza is hosting Drive 4-6.

Former 2SER music director Steph Liong is also hosting The Band Next Door 8pm-10pm, with special guest Alyx Dennison (of KYU) on the show, and a special IWD ep of Music Mothers and Others, featuring musician/podcaster Claire Tonti, will also go up on pod first and to the air later. We hope you enjoy our coverage, and look forward to bringing these very special broadcasts to you!
