Learning an instrument can help children become better readers

In the modern age, learning how to play an instrument isn’t a priority of a child’s education, and is often shuffled over to the side as a fun hobby.
Well, our next guest argues differently: recent research has, in fact, found that learning to play music at a young age help a child’s literacy levels.
To discuss about the benefit of music in the early years of schooling, The Daily’s Julia Carr-Catzel was joined by Dr. Anita Collins, Assistant Professor in Music and Arts Education at the University Canberra.
You can find Dr Collins’ writing on the subject at The Conversation.
