Television: Reservation Dogs

Reservation Dogs follows the lives of Indigenous teenagers living in Oklahoma and dealing with the issues of friendships, family crime and dealing with grief after the death of a close friend. Written almost entirely by a team of Indigenous writers and executive produced by Taika Waititi, this series is a perfect blend of teen comedy and with genuine drama and emotional weight that has seen it earn critical acclaim and received Golden Globe, Peabody and Critic’s Choice Television Awards.

Reservation Dogs is available now on Foxtel and Binge. Watch the trailer here.

Film: Corsage

From director Marie Kreutzer and starring Vicky Krieps in the lead role, Corsage is a historical drama exploring the life of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, as she begins to behave strangely as her 40th birthday nears. The titular corsage is the German word for corset, a fitting metaphor for the roles and expectations Elisabeth is forced to perform against her own desires to break out of this role.

Corsage is in cinemas now. Watch the trailer here.

Television: Physical

In 1980’s San Diego, housewife Sheila Rubin, played by Australia’s Rose Byrne, deals with an unhappy marriage and instructive negative thoughts, making her living life something less than she hoped for. All of that changes when Shelia discovers the magic of an aerobics fitness class and begins to take control of her life. Becoming an instructor herself, Shelia beings to carve out the life she truly wants in this comedy drama that really gets your body moving.

Physical is out now on Apple TV+. Watch the trailer here.

Music: This Stupid World, Yo La Tengo

The 16th album from the New Jersey Trio was spontaneously recorded in Hoboken and continues developing their pristine melodies. Featuring angelic voices and guitar work alongside a refreshing variation between each and every song, Yo La Tengo continues to unfurl secrets and surprises each time you visit.

This Stupid World is out now on Spotify and Bandcamp.
