World Health Organisation – Guidelines Regarding Screen Time for Children

Early childhood is undoubtedly a crucial and formative period for the developing of a brain. In today’s tech, screen-heavy world, it is not uncommon to see young kids interacting with some kind of technological device. World Health Organisation has issued its first guidelines regarding screen time for children two to four years old. The recommendation for children under one year old is to not be exposed to any screens whatsoever, with children one to four recommended to follow a 1 hour per day limit.

We spoke with Jo Salmon, an Alfred Deakin Professor from the Faculty of Health, about these guidelines to see if they’re reasonable and realistic in today’s world.
